Think Wellness
Whatever your dietary requirements, we do our best to ensure that you can always get a taste of more and more. We include kilojoule information for all the meals on our menu as well as a full nutritional guide on our website, so you’re always fully equipped to make better food choices. We’re constantly adding new dishes to our menu and giving you new reasons to try them.
One of those reasons is our partnership with Discovery Vitality, which gives Discovery Vitality Premium members and their dependants up to 25% cash back on selected HealthyDining meals, and 50% on selected kids meals. Look out for the pink Vitality symbol throughout our menu to help you choose these healthier, Vitality-approved meals.
Whether you’re looking for a plant-based pick-me-up or an alternative to dairy, there’s something for everyone on our menu. We’ve partnered with one of South Africa’s leading plant-based food experts, Chef Mokgadi Itsweng, to bring you more and more delicious choices. These dishes use nutritious, locally sourced ingredients like sorghum and beans, which are both good for you and for the planet. Make sure to try our NEW dairy-free Coconut Milk Shakes too!
Quality
Taste buds don’t lie. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of sinking your teeth into any of our familiar favourites, you’ll know there’s something special about a Mugg & Bean meal.
We understand that a meal is only as good as the ingredients that were used to prepare it. That’s why we use only the best locally sourced and grown potatoes. We leave the skin on your fries not only because they taste better that way, but because they’re more nutritious and create less food waste.
We only use free-range eggs, not only because they have great nutritional value, a richer yolk colour and an even more delicious flavour, but also because we’re committed to improving animal welfare.
Our burgers are generously stacked with all the best, freshest toppings, and our beef burgers are the true stars of the show. All our beef patties are made with 100% locally sourced beef, so they’re always more juicy and more tasty.
Food Safety
Your safety and well-being is our top priority. We’re committed to serving you the great tasting, high quality meals you expect from us, every time. Part of this is ensuring that the food we serve is always delicious and safe to eat. Our food is fresh and adheres to the very highest requirements, using quality ingredients while meeting regulatory requirements and international best practice standards. All our restaurants are required to uphold our stringent food safety standards in order to make sure we serve fresh and quality meals. Our restaurants are audited to make sure that all health and safety requirements are upheld at all times. Our suppliers are also required to adhere to our demanding food safety standards and are independently audited. We take complaints related to our food very seriously and strive to respond to potential health and safety issues related to the food we serve as a priority. It’s important to us that you have a great experience at our restaurants and serving you a fresh, tasty, and quality meal will always come first and foremost!
Think Sustainability
Generous portions aren’t the only thing we’re concerned about; we also strive to do more and more for the planet. That’s why our food is produced, sourced, and grown in a sustainable manner. Our takeaway coffee cups and lids are fully recyclable, compostable and biodegradable, which makes them more likely to end up in a garden patch than a landfill. We’ve also stopped clutching at plastic straws, and now your takeaway drink will be served with a paper one instead.
We have recently switched our takeaway packaging to wooden knives, forks, spoons and stirrers. This simple change has reduced our plastic waste output by over 300kg per year. Our wooden cutlery is made from sustainable birchwood, and our wooden spoons are coated in an RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil coating to improve the mouth feel.
Our reusable Travel Mugg is made from sustainable bamboo, and apart from helping the planet, you also benefit from R5 off every refill in your Travel Mugg.
As part of our sustainability journey, we also strive to continuously improve all our packaging. So, keep visiting our restaurants to join us in doing more for the planet.
Think Community
Through this partnership, young South Africans have the opportunity to gain work experience and develop the skills required to work as baristas in our restaurants. So far, we’ve permanently placed 22 young black South Africans in our restaurants, and we’re still training more!
We’re already doing this for 200 black smallholding farmers and 1000 communal farmers based in 200 villages and we hope to do even more in the future to uplift small-scale farmers.
More and more care
Every year since 2012, we’ve partnered with Cupcakes of Hope to help them raise awareness and funds for families fighting childhood cancer. Throughout the year, we collect a R1 donation for every freshly baked Giant Muffin sold at all our restaurants and On-The-Move stores. Then, in September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we increase the donation to R2 for every Muffin sold. All these donations add up and are used to help the families with their medical treatments or any other day-to-day expenses such as food and transport for hospital visits.
Thanks to your help, we’ve raised over R5 million for kids fighting cancer since 2022. Let’s continue working together, and enjoying those freshly baked Giant Muffins, so that we can give even more in the years to come. Generosity is at the heart of everything we do. It’s not only the generous serving you receive from us, it’s also the generous care and support we share with the families of childhood cancer warriors.
