Honduran coffee is relatively young. Before the second half of the 1900s, Honduras’ cash crop had always been bananas as they grow much quicker than coffee beans. It was only in the late 1990s and early 2000s that Honduran beans really took off.
Generally, Honduran coffee is aromatic with fragrant notes of fruit and nuts, has a medium body and well-balanced acidity. Our organic Honduras Single Origin has a medium to full body with a fruity fragrance and flavour notes of citrus to go with a natural lively acidity.
Our beans are also grown at least 1350 metres above sea level. This is the top tier for growing as the altitude causes the coffee plant to grow slowly and take more nutrients from the soil. The result is a fuller, more robust flavour of coffee.
If you’re wondering what a single origin coffee is, let us explain. It means that the coffee beans only come from a specific, single geographical region. Single origin coffees have a more consistent flavour as all the beans grew under the same conditions, with the same farming techniques and the same climate.
