Gladys was referred to Cupcakes of Hope by Mpho’s doctor. Gladys phoned them, but it was the festive season and even heroes like the team from Cupcakes of Hope need a break every now and then, so she didn’t get an immediate response. Mpho took matters into her own hands and reached out to Cupcakes of Hope herself via their Facebook page. Though she’s still young, this girl is filled with determination! Cupcakes of Hope answered her call with financial support that helps her get to hospital, cover the medical bills, and enjoy healthy foods.
Mpho is responding very well to her treatment, but what she needs most right now is a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find bone marrow donors in South Africa, mainly because of the misconception that donating bone marrow is painful. However this is not the case! If you are interested in helping leukaemia patients, and you’re between the ages of 16 and 45, please contact the South African Bone Marrow Registry to register.
When you order your favourite Giant Muffin at your local M&B, you’re helping kids like Mpho. For each Giant Muffin sold nationwide, we’re donating to non-profit Cupcakes of Hope so that they can keep on supporting countless other kids through their fight against cancer and into remission.
