“My first memory of eating chocolate cake was from my grandmother who worked at a hotel in Durban. She always brought leftovers from the hotel and my favourites were the cakes and scones.”

“My cousins and I would always wait for her at the bus stop, so we could help her carry her bag which was always filled with leftover sandwiches, cake and fancy cold cuts from the breakfast and lunch service.”

“If there was cake in the leftover bag, it was always a decadent chocolate or marble cake, with tons of delicious frosting.”
