When we started our partnership with Chef Mokgadi Itsweng, our goal was simple: to offer you more and more delicious choices. Chef Mokgadi is a renowned local chef whose mission is to show South Africans that plant-based meals can be just as delicious as meaty meals. All the dishes and drinks she’s helped us create are free of meat, but that doesn’t mean they’re free of flavour! Quite the opposite; these meals are bursting with fresh deliciousness!

Plant-Based Breakfast
Skip the bacon for breakfast and go for beans instead! Our Spicy Beans on Toast breakfast has everything you need to get your day started right: toast, a poached egg, spicy beans, and a delicious dollop of pea pesto. This meal is a great choice for those who are trying vegetarian food for the first time because it includes egg – so you’re still getting a traditional source of protein.

A generous
vegetarian lunch
There’s nothing like a burger at lunchtime. So, next time you want to treat yourself to a delicious lunch, try our Veggie Gourmet Burger. As Chef Mokgadi says, “Getting the perfect ingredients that complement each other is what makes a great burger.” Ours has a spiced chickpea veggie patty, with lashings of sriracha mayo, caramelised onion, freshly sliced tomato, and crisp lettuce, all held together by our soft brioche bun.
This winter, we also have a special Red Lentil & Coconut Soup for you to try. It’s special because the recipe is inspired by the dhal soups Chef Mokgadi’s granny always used to make during the winter months. She’s added a generous splash of coconut milk, to add a creamy finish to this delicious soup.
One of Chef Mokgadi’s favourite ingredients is sorghum. It’s a grain that’s part of the African continent’s history and it’s held a special place in many cultures for hundreds of years. Chef Mokgadi uses sorghum as a base for our Summer Nourish Salad, with the addition of pickled onions and tomatoes, cool cucumbers, fresh herbs, earthy beetroot hummus, grilled halloumi, and a bright citrus and honey dressing to top it all off. This generous lunch is both filling and delicious!

Plant-Based Sweet Treats
A milkshake without milk? You’ll have to try it to believe it! Our Coconut Milk Shakes are made to satisfy your craving for a creamy and delicious milkshake, minus the dairy. These shakes are made with coconut cream, so they’re thick and full of flavour right up until the last slurp! Choose from a classic Chocolate Coconut Milk Shake, or go for a decadent and delectable Pistachio & White Chocolate Coconut Milk Shake.
Saving the best for last, we’ve also got a Coconut Chocolate Loaf Cake for you to try at Mugg & Bean On-The-Move. Once again, Chef Mokgadi was inspired by her grandmother’s cooking, in fact this was the first cake she ever learnt how to bake. It’s moist on the inside, and topped with a creamy coconut chocolate ganache, making it a decadent, eggless treat.
